Australian Payments Council

Driving strategy for the Australian payments industry.

The Australian Payments Council (APC) was formed in 2014 following a joint consultation by AusPayNet and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) on establishing a new payments industry coordination body.

The Council’s role in improving the Australian payments system involves:

  • identifying strategic industry issues
  • identifying emerging trends
  • generating common industry positions for action and adoption
  • engaging directly with the Payments System Board and RBA

The Council launched the Australian Payments Plan in December 2015 to ensure that the payments system remains resilient, efficient, accessible and adaptable over the next decade.

The Plan identifies a number of initiatives that the payments community will work on together.
